Now I have this place to put things I am going to try out something different than what I thought I might do
I am going to write a story and post up each small part as it is finished rather than as with my other stories waiting till the entire part is finished. Very like the way a web comic is posted a page at a time. as before I will post the story and then a bit more to this post explaining about it.
so I hope you enjoy the first part of "Travels with a planestrider"

This is acutely the latest of my story worlds and it is the result of the flash of inspiration I posted about last post it will be interesting to see if people can spot what I have been inspired by.
I am a bit worried for 2 reasons
1 I am jumping in without a total plan of where I am going. I have most of it mapped out but not all and as I am posting it as I go along retcons are going to be a issue.
2 I was worried when I was rereading it that I might be being a bit to heavy handed in the wording but I am letting it stand is it is
Part of what I am trying out with this story is writing it form pure first person and I found that much easier than I expected and almost easier than the style I have chosen for my other writing

on inspration and blocks
A little insight on how the human mind works (or at least the close approximation that is mine)
I have had some idea fragments floating round for a while. Things like "what if this" or "how about if I try this" or "I think I want to do the other" but I had been unable to fit them into one of my current plans. Then about a week ago when I was walking along Cornmarket Street suddenly it all fused together into a coherent whole I can remember exactly where I was and exactly what I was listing to when it did. 2 hours a cup of hot chocolate and a chocolate brownie later and I have nearly 2000 words and a plan for a lot more
on the other hand I have still not got a name for a character who I first created years ago and who is in the majority of what I have written the large majority of what I have pre-written and for whom I have a life history

Ork fort
This is the first story I will post up here.
This is not the first story I started it is the first one I actually finished. it is a Warhammer 40,000 story based on a game I played on evening in my local games workshop
This story is based on a game I played one evening I was Tyranids as usual and my opponent was Space Wolfs it was a very good game which he won by holding on to his objective and slowly pulling his men back to it. Despite his strategy if the game had gone on for another turn or more I would have won in the end. So when I was walking home I was thinking about how an army in an obviously losing position could win and the notion of a strike force awaiting extraction came to me.
I probably made more progress on this quicker than the rest of my stories because a lot of the work on the plot was already done by the battle and by the fantastic word of Warhammer 40,000 and all I need to do was to flesh out the characters and tell it form their point of view
